WILL MINX’S “ONE MONTH SUPPLY” LAST IF:
I have more than one cat?
A general guide for multi-cat households is there should be at least one tray available per cat. If your cats are happy to share, you may need to use more than one box of Minx if you have multiple cats using the same litter tray.
I have a larger litter tray?
Some litter trays have a larger floor area than others. To keep a comfortable and ‘cat friendly’ depth of litter in the tray, you may need to use more than one box of Minx to enjoy the full benefit of its powerful clumping action and odour control.
My cat “toilets”more than other cats?
Urinary issues and various types of medications can cause your cat to visit the litterbox more regularly. If this is the case, Minx is up for the challenge! You may need to use more than one box of Minx to enjoy the full benefit of its powerful clumping action and odour control.
HELP! LITTERBOX AVERSION
Excessive Meowing? Balancing on the side of the litterbox? “Going” in alternative places? Just refusing to “go” altogether?
Why doesn’t my cat like Minx?
Kitty might actually be trying to tell you they are unhappy with the sudden change to their litterbox, not what’s inside it. We recommend using on of our transitioning methods to avoid litterbox stress and help Kitty gradually get used to their new litterbox.
How do I MAKE my cat use the litterbox?
We all know it is nearly impossible to “make” a cat do anything. The key is to be patient and make them think it was their idea! Gradually transitioning litter is the best way to avoid litterbox stress. If you are experiencing litterbox refusal, reset and start at the beginning. Use your old litter and then try a transitioning method so Kitty can gradually get used to their new litterbox.
Do I really HAVE to transition litter types?
Some cats are not fussed on which kind of litter they use and can change litter types instantly without no objections. However, the last thing any owner wants is to cause bad litterbox habits, or worse. Litterbox stress can result in more than a few meows and bit of mess, cats can feel so stressed they are unable to toilet at all. This canresult in unpleasant (and costly) urinary conditions. Transitioning litter is the best way to avoid litterbox stress and if all goes well – you can speed up the process. It’ll be over before you – and Kitty – know it!
LITTERBOX BASICS
If Minx is unscented, how will it control odour?
Other types of litter use either (i) fragrance to overpower odour or (ii) synthetic chemicals to break down odour. Minx is different – it rapidly absorbs liquid on contact and TRAPS odour into firm, discreet clumps. By clumping liquid waste quickly, the remaining litter in the tray stays fresh and dry. By forming firm clumps, deposits can be easily removed and disposed of without wasting remaining litter. Minx is able to do all of this without the help of any fragrance OR synthetic chemicals – so it is safer for you and the environment!
How many trays should I have?
The general rule is every cat should have its own, dedicated litter tray. However, some cats are happy to share. If you have multiple cats using the same tray, be prepared to use more than one box of Minx to enjoy the full benefit of its clumping action and odour control.
How much Minx should I put in the tray?
We’ve tried to keep it simple: One box lasts one month for one cat. So, for one cat using an average size litter tray – add one full 2.5kg box of Minx to the litter tray.
How often should I clean the tray?
Clumped litter and soiled litter should be removed daily. Using this system, the tray should only require a complete clean and change once per month.
How should I dispose of Minx?
Minx is completely natural and biodegradable and can be easily disposed of in the bin or in the garden.
Can I flush Minx down the toilet?
Minx is suitable for flushing BUT in small amounts only due to it’s highly absorbent formula. Prior to flushing please consider (i) the size of the clumped deposit and (ii) the condition of your plumbing. Minx is completely natural and biodegradable and will dissolve when in immersed in enough water.
UNUSUAL QUESTIONS:
What if my cat eats Minx?
While it’s a bit cringeworthy, it’s not as strange as it sounds. Giving something new a ‘taste test’ is normal exploratory behaviour. Plus, Minx is made from 100% natural, biodegradable and human grade corn meal with no artificial adhesives or fragrances. So, no need to panic! While we think its great Kitty is keen to get to know their new litterbox, if they are making Minx their ‘main meal’ then a call to your local vet would be advisable there may be another cause for Kitty’s “munchies”. As for a little nibble here and there - Kitty will likely tire of the behaviour and start using Minx the right way in their own time.
What if my cat likes to roll around and appear to ‘play’ in their Minx?
Odd? Sort of…Should you worry? No. Some cats are more adventurous than others and this is normal exploratory behaviour. Kitty will likely tire of the behaviour and start using Minx the right way in their own time.
